Hurley looked around inside his van. Sawyer had cleaned out all of the beer, so Hurley had moved in some seats from the plane and strapped them down. It looked like it was scrap, but he wasn't worried. His friend Jane and his new friends Laura and Piper had nothing to laugh at. They'd likely scream in excitement.
Looking down the hill, Hurley saw a mud pit and some kind of animals squirming inside (Addy and Jack). He'd have to avoid that. He opened the door to the back of the van and said to his new friends, "Go on and remember your seatbelts, dudes!"

Piper's heart was beating fast in excitement as she clambered into the van. When Hurley had said it needed a hill to help get the van started, she hadn't given it much thought. But boy, was this a hill.
She tried to put her seatbelt on, but it wouldn't click in. She shrugged, it didn't matter much to her, it would just make things a bit more exciting.
Looking around the van she noticed how dirty it was. Wedged under her sheet was an old crumpled can with "Dharma Beer" written on it. She looked up in excitement, still clutching the one empty beer can.
"You guys have beer?" she asked.

Jane looked through the open door at Piper. She laughed a little at the excitement the girl had over an empty beer can. It had probably been there forever, at least as long as the van! However, she looked at Hurley with a look of question on her face. If they had beer and didn't share, she would have to be all over his case.
"What all did the van come with?" Jane asked light-heartedly. "Obviously these luxurious seats were an after market addition," she smirked as she ran her hand over an airplane seat.

Laura looked inside with curiosity and pondered on the items in the vand. She felt as if touching something would lead to disaster, but Piper already found the empty beer bottle. Still Laura wanted to be extra careful and she peered inside with curisoty.
"How can this still stay together?" Laura asked aloud in a joking-tone as she looked at the seats.

"With great difficulty!" Piper called in response to Laura's question as she continued to search around the van for any other interesting stuff, but apart from a few old papers, there was nothing.
She leaned over the front seat to talk to Hurley.
"Well, are we gonna get going?" she asked.

((Sorry for the late reply. Been sorta busy-ish.))
Addy laughed at Jack's comment. "Maybe we will start to look younger," she agreed. "And then we can tell everyone about that little mud pit. We could charge for it, you know," she suggested. "Two mangoes an hour or something like that." It was a good idea to joke with. She wouldn't really do it, of course, but it was a fun idea.
As they walked, Addy looked around. There was a hill off to their left and she started looking at it. The trees, the flowers, bushes, the van... Wait. Van? Addy stopped walking and looked closer. "Jack... do you see that up there?" she asked, pointing to the van sitting atop the hill a little ways off.

...Just before the van started moving. Hurley turned the key and the engine hummed to life. Looking back, the girls seemed anxious, and nervous. Laura seemed especially frightened, with her asking how it stayed together and the look on her face when he turned the key. "I added the seats, and the straps that hold the doors closed while it moves. It came with everything here, and a few cases of beer that Sawyer took." Smiling, he said, "Let's see how fast we can make the OF4815 go!" Referring to the license plate. He floored the gas pedal, and the van raced off the edge of the hill, flying toward the pool of mud.

Jane grabbed the door handle and the dashboard as the van jerked into take off. She was trying to brace herself but realized quickly it was futile! The van was never meant to be an off road vehicle and here they were trouncing over the grassland and straight down a fairly large hill, hitting what felt like every bump along the way.
"Hurley! This thing does have brakes if we need them, right??" Jane exclaimed in excitement and a little bit of worry.

Laura held onto her seat and tried not to fall out when Hurley brought the van to life in a jolt. They raced throughout the jungle and Laura thought this was somewhat fun to her. She then heard Jane' qusetion about brakes and she nodded in agreement.
"I agree with Jane, please tell me there are brakes on this van!" Laura asked aloud over the noise to Hurley.

Piper heard the comments about the brakes and found herself wondering if the van really didn't have breaks, but she was having to much fun to worry. Holding onto the seat as best she could she shouted out:
"This is awesome!"

Hurley laughed at Piper's shouting, "This is awesome!" He simply waited until they neared the bottom, then he would show them if the van had brakes. But he was still near the middle of the hill when he spotted Jack and a girl in mud. He shouted, "Whoa!" Slamming his foot on the brakes did nothing, as they were going too fast down the hill for the brakes to matter. They rapidly approached the mud puddle...

Laura felt Hurley trying to put on the brakes, but nothing came of it. She thought this was somewhat bad. Up until she saw the mud puddle in front of them, inching closer and closer. Then she knew it was going to get messy. She crossed herself quickly and hung on for dear life.
"This is bad..." Laura replied aloud in fear over the noisy sound of the van flying down the hill.

Jane saw the people in the mud puddle. She knew she shouldn't have sat in the front. She had a great view of exactly what was going on and every tree they nearly hit. Now they were heading straight for two people covered in mud ... and one of them was Jack!
"Oh my...," Jane mumbled under her breath as she felt Hurley trying to make the brakes work on the steep slope. The momentum was too great. "Jack!!! MOVE!!!" Jane yelled into the windshield. Her window was open but Jane couldn't think well enough to think to put her head out the window. Of course, there was a good chance if she did it would be knocked off by a tree.
