Cameron wasn't feeling his best. Not as bad as four days before, he had calmed down, after all, but he still wasn't feeling great. He had heard from a friend, who heard from another friend, who heard from someone else, that someone had allegedly been shot back in LA. Someone he was very close to...
It couldn't be true. He didn't want it to be true. She couldn't be dead... not now, especially... He had just gotten away from LA, and now here he was, waiting for a plane to go back. And if she was gone, then he was almost certain who must've done it. And he wouldn't let him go this time. He would do everything in his 15-year-old power to make sure there was hell to pay.
He was sitting in the airport lobby, waiting for his flight, when someone asked if the seat next to him was taken. The airport was unusually crowded, after all, and there was nowhere else to sit...
"No, go ahead." he said to the person.
[A/R (Anyone reply.)]
He put his head in his hands.

Jack looked at the young boy when he said this, the boy seemed depressed ... sad. Jack didn't want to but into things that weren't to do with him but he seemed lonely, no one else was sitting with him. Maybe all he needed was company.
"Whats wrong?" Jack asked ... then feeling a little rude he stuck out his hand "Jack Shepard"
Jack continued to look at the boy, hoping to help. He looked young, a little too young to be on his own, Jack remembered when he was about his age .. alway by his parents side. Although they were a little too over protective.

Cameron looked up at this Jack Shepherd. He shook the man's hand.
"Cameron Daniels," he said, looking at the man. He looked a little like Cameron felt. And he looked kinda tired, too.
"As for the what's wrong part... well, quite a bit..."

"Well, looks like we have a lot of time on our hands" Jack looked over to the clock, it would be at least an hour before they started to board "I am guessing you are on flight 815"
Jack only thought this as the boy was in front of gate 23, the gate that was from Sydney to Los Angeles. But then again he could be on a completely different flight and just want to get some time away from everyone else. Jack didn't know, but he knew he would find out soon enough.

Cameron glanced at the clock. Plenty of time.
"That's right. Which means, I guess, that you're on Flight 815, too?"
He asked the question, but he knew the answer would be yes. After all, how else would Mr. Sheppherd know the flight number?

"You got it" Jack smiled a little at the kid, he seemed to be avoiding the question. "So, you going to tell me whats wrong? Or don't you want o talk about it?"
Jack didn't want to push the kid, it was his choice whether or not he told Jack. All Jack was trying to do was help him, keep a conversation going. But he didn't want Cameron getting more upset and depressed, so maybe it would be better us he left it.
Looking back at the clock he noticed it hadn't changed much, this was going to be a long time. But clock watching didn't help it go by any faster.

Usually he wouldn't tell a stranger like this what had happened, but he couldn't help but trust this man...
"Fair enough, I'll tell you..." he said with a smile that quickly faded.
"Someone I cared for, someone back in LA is dead... and it's my fault."

Jack was shocked, he had never expected Cameron to come out with something like this ... Jack had expected something like he lost his wallet, or couldn't find his family. Not that someone had died, that was terrible and Jack couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
"I'm sure it wasn't your fault" Jack told him "I'm sure whatever happened was an accident, your looking for someone to blame and it shouldn't be yourself. Don't be so hard on yourself"
Jack was a little like Cameron, always blaming himself for things that happened ... some things that weren't even his fault. So Jack could understand where he was coming from.

That's what Cameron had kept telling himself. It wasn't his fault. But did he really believe it?
"You don't understand. I ran away from my father. And she helped me... So he killed her."
He hesitated...
"If I had just stayed there, she would still be alive," he said, wishing this was just a bad dream.
But, of course, it wasn't.

"Your father did this, not you Cameron. Don't blame yourself for his stupid mistakes"
Jack couldn't believe what he was hearing, did the police know? Was this mans father behind bars? Jack didn't know but didn't want to be one of those people who tried to get all the gossip and spread it around. It was between him and Cameron, and Jack didn't even need to know what happened ... really it was none of his business.
"You shouldn't be so hard on yourself, this was not your fault"

"I guess you're right," Cameron said.
They sat in silence for a little while. He could tell that something was still bothering Jack, so he said, "What about you, Mr. Sheppherd? What's got you so down?"

Jack had almost forgotten about his problems, not wanting to deal with them right now. But thinking about what Cameron had just said .. it brought it all back, how it was his fault that Jack's own father, Christian Shepard, had died.
"It's ... well i guess we're a lot a like Cameron ... my father passed away recently."
He understood that Cameron had lost his mother, but loosing any parent was hard. Jack was a lot older and could probably cope with it a bit better, but he had just kept his mouth shut about his father drinking on the job .. then maybe he would be alive now.

"I'm sorry," Cameron said to Jack. So Jack had lost someone, too. Just like Mr. Shepherd had said, they were a lot alike.
Well, this conversation was pretty depressing. Hopefully, they would start talking about something else...

"Not your fault" Jack told him "You don't need to apologize"
Jack looked down, man this was sad. He had to think of something else to say or the two of them would be sitting in an awkward silence for a long time ...
"So how old are you Cameron?" Thinking that made him sound like a pedophile he added on the end "You look a little young to be flying alone."

"Sixteen," Cameron said.
He wouldn't be flying alone, if his aunt had gotten her way. She wanted to come with him. He understood, and kind of wanted her to go with him, but he thought it would be better if Andy didn't come back to LA. So Cameron asked her to stay with him.
"I usually wouldn't fly alone, but my aunt had to stay behind. To take care of my brother."

"Well if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask me"
Jack thought it would be a good idea to offer his help, after all the kid was alone so Jack knew it would be hard. So the least he could do was say he would help, then Cameron could decide whether he needed it or not.
"You thirsty?" Jack looked over at the nearest coffee bar "I know i am"

Cameron was grateful that he was fortunate enough to meet someone like Jack, who was kind enough to offer help to someone who was practically a stranger.
"Thanks," he said to Jack.
"You thirsty? I know I am," he heard Jack say.
He had just had breakfast a little while ago, so he was fine.
"No thanks, I'm fine," he said.

"OK then" Jack stood up and looked back to him "But if you need anything ... i'll be just over here"
Jack motioned to where he was going to sit. Jack smiled and walked over there, ordering and coffee and taking a seat, he looked around and saw many people rushing around. It was a hectic day.
He took a long drink of his coffee and sighed, trying not to think of why he was going to LA.
