Hurley ran into the jungle. He was hungry and he still had it. He ran and ran, emerging somewhere he didn't recognize. "Aw, man." He turned around quickly, looking for something he recognized. He found his it. It was a tree, with a funny looking piece of shrapnel shaped like a wheel from Gladiator stuck in it's trunk.
Hurley walked up to the tree and reached up, grabbing his bag of hidden food. Candy bars, peanut butter, cookies... He opened a box of Apollo Bars and munched on one. He accidentally dropped it and reached for it, finding another funny looking piece of shrapnel shaped like a wheel from Gladiator. He grabbed it and found it was attached to a rusted metal pole. He pulled, but it gave little.
Hurley cleared around the pole and found that both ends went into a metal plate. He cleared around it and pulled, uprooting some earth and revealing a metallic corridor. "Dude..." He turned and ran back to camp.
Hurley emerged onto the beach, next to the tents. He ran to Jack. "Dude!" He nearly ran into him, then put his hands on his knees and panted a moment. "Dude, I found another hatch thingy!"

[[OOC: Sorry it took me a long time to reply, didn't know about this thread. Send me a PM next time and I will be here straight away ]] Jack had been collecting some food and water to take back to his tent, looking around all the Dharma products he found some Apollo bars. A smile came across his face as it had been such a long time since he had any form of chocolate. Even when the hatch was there he had never really gone for the chocolate. Taking a few bars back to his tent he heard someone shouting behind him, without even turning around he knew who it was. Hurley. Jack turned to face him and asked "What are you talking about?" Jack had just hoped Hurley hadn't found another place for them to press a damn button every 104 minutes. But then again people had been finding these Dharma stations more and more lately, mainly because they hadn't been so afraid to leave camp anymore. Everyone had been out in the jungle exploring the island, now it seemed it was Hurley's turn to find something interesting.

Jason looked up from his book as he heard Hurley shouting through camp. He smirked, realizing that Hurley must have just come up with another crazy idea like a golf course or something like that. But when he faintly heard the word "hatch" his ears perked up and he dropped the book he was reading.
Jason crept over to Hurley's position, where he noticed Jack standing next to him. Jason was trying not to cause commotion, but also trying not to look suspicious. Whatever was going on, he was going to find out and help. He had been on a hiatus as far as island adventures concern, and he was getting bored. Another mystery would surely be the cure for this boredom.
Reaching Jack and Hurley, Jason stopped and smiled. "Let me guess, you found 'ol smokey's lair?"

"Dude! I was just..." He stopped for a moment, trying to come up with some kind of lie to cover his food stash. "Hunting!" Hurley blurted out the first thing that came to mind. He immediately regretted saying it, as he hadn't been hunting in his life and would be in quite a mess if they asked him to prove it. "I was just... hunting, when I dropped my... knife! I picked it up, found a handle, pulled on it and found another hatch thingy!" He inwardly grimaced at every lie, knowing he was going to get caught. "Dude, we need to check it out. There might be food!" He would've kicked himself if it wouldn't have given him away. Food? He was soooooooooo going to get caught.

Jack was a little confused ... Hurley was hunting?! This couldn't be true. Desmond, Locke, Boone, these are the people who generally went hunting. But Jack wasn't going to insult him by saying he was liar, instead he thought he better go check out what Hurley had found.
"Alright then, show me the way" He gave a small shrug of the shoulders, not too sure how to react to all of this. He could appear happy, but last time they found a hatch it wasn't exactly a bundle of joy.
Just as they were about to set off Jason came along, someone Jack hadn't spoken to since his return. And it appeared he had changed a little, either that or Jack couldn't remember him that well. Jack gave a confused look and said "Err .. Hurley's found something out in the jungle. Want to tag along and see what it is?"

Jason smiled when he saw Jack and gave a swift nod of approval. He hadn't been on too many treks lately, and this seemed exactly like what he needed. He felt safe with Jack, and Hurley was sure to add some comic relief along the way.
"So, what exactly did he find?" Jason whispered to Jack, hoping Hurley wouldn't hear. Hurley seemed a bit paranoid at what he had found, so Jason decided it would probably be best if he stayed low for awhile.

"I'm not too sure" Jack said, again quietly, although he had no idea why they were whispering. "Lead the way Hurley" Jack said, in a much louder voice. He was, in a strange was, looking forward to this. It would do him some good to get him out and about.
Jack decided to keep quiet until they got there, he had plenty of questions he wanted to ask Hurley, but thought he better wait until they have seen it for themselves. Once they reached the jungle, Jack picked up one of the sticks that was close and used it as a hiking stick. He had no idea how long this journey was going to be.

Hurley led them through the jungle, doing his best to steer clear of the trail he used to go to his tree. He even took an extra ten minutes going all the way around the new hatch, just so the they would emerge as far away from his tree as possible.
When they entered the clearing, Hurley made no mention of the wheel on the tree, and tried his best not to even look at it. When Jason or Jack looked at it, he said something, anything, to get them to look away. "Dudes! The door is over here!" He said loudly, making them turn back to the hatch. Now that the dirt was gone, the hatch symbol could be seen. A wheel from Gladiator was imprinted on the door, and Hurley pulled on the bars. The corridor was there, lights flickering in the background.

[[OOC: Jason/Ben hasn't been very active lately, if he does come back then he can join in once again, but if we can avoid talking to Jason .. then at least the thread can continue ]] Jack followed Hurley, this thing must be good as it has seemed to have got Hurley all excited. When they got closer Jack noticed a marking on the tree, he was about to move closer and take a better look at it, but then Hurley shouted. His eyes quickly darted to where Hurley had pointed, and he picked up his pace, walking right behind him now. Jack was speechless as he walked in, the lights flickered and made his vision a little funny. But he could make out the most of it. Once again, this place looked like it hadn't been used in years. Why had the all been abandoned? "How did you find this place?"

"I told you, I was hunting and dropped my apo... Appalachian styled knife! It fell on the door and I found this!" Hurley walked inside, trying to stop the conversation. Inside was a long hallway that had doors off to the sides, each looking like airlocks, because they were airtight. On the first one was marked a tree with three branches. Hurley opened it and inside was a bunch of dead trees. There was a large container in the back and next to it was a notebook. Picking up the notebook, Hurley found a bunch of scientific symbols and then words that were half worn away. Arecaceae reacted well to test 4238... Preparing to test Mangifera indica... G.A.B. Functioning better than planned... Request permission to test G.A.B. on Guayaba... Hurley had no idea what the notebook meant, but on the large container was this sentence: Growth Acceleration Botany Growth Acceleration? What did Botany mean?
"Jack, what's 'botany' mean?"

Jack followed Hurley, amazed by this place. But he couldn't help but feel Hurley wasn't telling him the whole truth. Since when did he have a knife? And why would he want one? Jack didn't question him, instead he let the story slide, he was obviously doing something that he didn't want Jack to know about ... so Jack thought it would be best to let him get on with it. It was Hurley after all, whatever he was doing wouldn't be dangerous or stupid.
He leaned over Hurley's shoulder and read what was in the book. There was a lot of stuff that he didn't understand in there, but he got the gist that whoever had been here was trying to speed up plant growth. Interesting work. But why stop? What happened that made them all abandon this place and leave most of the things behind?
"Botany?" Jack repeated. He was entirely sure what it meant "... I think, its the study of plants"

"Somebody here was making plants grow faster? Why? Who cares about plants?" Hurley looked around again, but finally found Jack's answer. A body, mostly gone, only Dharma clothing and a skeleton, and a hole in his skull. "Whoa, dude..." Hurley, his fear of death returning in a flash, passed out, just like when he had been holding the Marshall down and Jack had been pulling a piece of shrapnel out.
