108 minutes. The numbers on the wall were slowly counting down to the end of Lani's shift, which had just begun. She had volunteered for this, both out of curiosity and want to help. She hadn't felt like she'd been much help as of yet. Mostly she had sat around the beach sketching, or swimming, or observed her fellow survivors. Although her skills with a knife and her perfect aim had proved useful for hunting.
So now here she was standing in the doorway of the room in the hatch where the computer and "clock" were. The person whose shift had been before hers had just left. Her green eyes scanned the room. She hadn't really been down in the hatch more than a few times. She wondered who her shift partner would be.

Laura found her way to the hatch, following the trail that was left behind by many castaways who had the shift previous times. She wanted to help, she wanted to feel needed in the camp. This was one of the ways for her to feel like that really.
Laura walked through the hallway and saw a figure standing in the doorway of the room where Laura was supposed to be in. Laura cleared her throat to get the figure's attention.

Lani turned as she heard someone clear their throat. As she turned she saw a woman she had seen around camp, but had never spoken with. She smiled lightly and asked, "Your shift too?"
She took a few steps forward and extended her hand in introduction, "Bonjour. I'm Noelani...Lani for short."

"I'm Laura, nice to meet you Lani." Laura replied, shaking her hand gently and in a nice smile.
"Yeah I wanted to help out around here and when they said they needed volunteers to be down here, I wanted to come down and see what I can do." Laura replied in a grin, shoving her hands in her pockets.

"Nice to meet you too Laura," Lani said, smiling. She ruffled the back of her hair and grinned, "Yeah...Sitting around on the beach and sketching just wasn't enough for me. So I tried helping with hunting, but...one little knife only goes so far. I didn't feel like I was helping enough. So I decided to volunteer for this." She shrugged and rolled her eyes, "Although it's not really doing much..right?"

Piper walked around a corner into a large circular room and saw Lani and Laura sitting at a computer desk.
This was the first time she'd been in the hatch, and she was still trying to get over her shock at the fact that this place simply existed on the island; let alone cope with "the numbers" they'd been told about.
"Hey." She said a little shyly.
She knew Lani a little bit, and she at least knew who Laura was, but she wasn't exactly 'friends' with them yet.
"Do you know if they have any chocolate here?" she asked.
Ever since the discovery of the hatch and the food stash she'd been craving some. The cravings have given her a reason to check out the hatch anyway, but maybe they knew the hatch better than her. Besides, she'd have someone to share the chocolate with, if there was some.

"I don't know myself, but I've been told there is some down here by some of the other campers." Laura told Piper from her spot at the desk. Piper looked drained and she did look like she needed a pick-me-up with some Chocolate.

"Thanks," Piper answered. She turned around, and after a little look around the hatch found a whole box of chocolate bars. They looked old, and were a brand she'd never heard of, 'Apollo.' but that didn't matter. It was chocolate, and that was all she wanted.
There was plenty, but she only took three, one for herself and one each for the other girls.
Returning to the computer room she handed Lani and Laura each an Apollo bar. "Here you go," she said with a grin, eager to eat her own, but she paused for a second.
"Is that the numbers thing?" she asked, nodding towards the computer.

"Yeah, I don't how it works though. Really weird." Laura said aloud as she looked at the computer.
"Thanks for the food." Laura replied in her smile, taking the food graciously, "That was sweet of you."

"No problem." Piper grinned, taking a long awaited bite of the candy bar. It tasted wonderful. She hadn't realised how much she'd missed chocolate until now.
"so..." she looked at the computer distastefully. "We gotta type numbers into that every hundred minutes or something like that, or...the world will blow up?" She realised how sceptical she sounded, and hoped they wouldn't take it for rudeness. After all, she was happy enough to go along with it, but that didn't stop her from questioning it.
