[OOC. Takes place after One of Us] Claire sighed heavily as she changed positions on her sleeping mat, again. She didn't know why Charlie had insisted on her resting for the day. She didn't even remember being sick the day before. It must have been pretty bad though, because he had explained how worried he had been that she wouldn't make it through the night. So he took Aaron and left her in the tent to 'rest'. She pulled out her diary, hoping to pass the time alittle faster until Charlie returned for Aaron's feeding. She looked up quickly as her tent flap opened, thinking it was him. [Anyone feel free to join ]

She was probably over-stepping her boundaries. In fact, Juliet knew that she was trying too hard. But in order for their plan to work, she had to make it look like she really cared. And it wasn't that she didn't care about Claire, not at all. Juliet felt awful that the girl had to be used in the way she had been. She really did want to make sure she was feeling better. But she also needed to make herself look good.
With all of that in mind, Juliet cautiously walked over to Claire's tent, raising the tent flap slightly. She was relieved to see that the younger woman was awake. She seemed to be doing just fine.
Giving her a small smile, Juliet asked, "How are you feeling, Claire?"

Claire placed her Diary in her bag, and looked at Juliet akwardly.
She really didn't know what to think of her. From what Charlie had said, Juliet had saved her life, but at the same time, if the Others hadn't kidnapped her, drugged her, and tried to take her baby in the first place, Juliet wouldn't have been needed to save her in the first place, would she?
After another moment of silence, Claire finally spoke up. "Yeah, I'm good. Juliet, right?"

Juliet gave a small nod at Claire's question. "Yes, I'm Juliet," she confirmed. "I just wish that we could have met under better circumstances," she commented with a light smile. She didn't know exactly how Claire felt about her presence, so she told herself to not try too much. Especially since she was still working on being accepted by the group.
"I saw your baby," she said after a moment, not really knowing what to say. "Aaron. He's beautiful." It had been so long since she'd seen a baby, especially here where all the pregnant women died before birth. The sight of a baby was wonderful to her and reminded her of the nephew that she'd never seen.

Claire watched her curiously. She wasn't even in the mood to go off on when Juliet had been around Aaron. Hell, she hadn't even seen Aaron in what felt like ages. Not with Super-Charlie around anyway.
"Thanks" She suddenly saw how incredibly rude she was being, and motioned to the spot in front of her. "Do you wanna sit down?"

"Oh, yes, thank you," said Juliet, sitting down in a spot across from Claire. She saw the woman's confused look and knew there was really nothing she could do to to ease her feelings of uncertainty. But what she did know was that she had the ability to explain things.
"I want to apologize to you, Claire," she said, looking the other woman in the eye. "For what happened to you. For the kidnapping. For almost dying the other night. None of that was supposed to happen." Well... in all actuality, Claire was meant to have almost died. It was all part of Ben's plan to get the camp to earn her trust. And as much as Juliet hated being deceitful and causing pain, it seemed to be working so far.
"Most of it was my fault," she continued. "And I'm sorry for all of it." Another half-truth. Her face didn't show her concern for her lies. In fact, she acted very sincere about the whole deal. And in truth, she was sorry that Claire had been put through all of that. She wished none of it had to happen.

Claire continued to eye Juliet with uncertainty. She wanted to trust her. She really did. Afterall, Jack seemed to trust her, and Claire trusted Jack with her life. It just didn't make sence. Why would the Others leave Juliet behind? She knew secrets about them that they definately wouldn't want everyone to know.
"Well, while were on the matter." Claire said looking Juliet in the eye. "If it wasn't suppose to happen, and you're all such great people. Why'd you hang Charlie? You know he almost died. He did die, and why were you going to take my baby? You were going to kill me, and take my baby" Claire let out a half sob half laugh as she continued. "I mean, why us? What did we ever do to you?"

Juliet saw this coming. But this was a time to explain things to Claire, to get her on her side. She had explained things to Jack, but it seemed as if Jack hadn't gotten around to telling things to Claire, who was obviously distressed about the whole situation.
"The kidnapping and what happened to Charlie was not supposed to happen, Claire," she explained. Juliet took a deep breath, knowing that this had the possibility of being a long conversation. "I don't know why, but women on this island can't have babies. I have seen so many pregnant mothers die here, but I couldn't figure out what was wrong. When your plane crashed and we noticed that you were pregnant, we tried to make sure that you wouldn't meet the same fate. Ethan took blood samples and we found that you had the same symptoms all those other mothers had. I had created a medication to reverse the effects, which Ethan had been giving you. But when you found out that he wasn't on the plane, he had nothing else to do. You needed those injections, Claire, or else you and your baby would have died. So he took you and Charlie. I have no idea why he left Charlie the way he did," she explained.
"But the injections seemed to work. You had your baby and the both of you seem to be very healthy. We had no intentions of ever killing you or your baby. We were trying to save both your lives," she said. Where had Claire gotten the idea that they were trying to kill her?
"It was never our plan to kidnap you, to almost kill Charlie, any of that, Claire." Juliet clasped her hands together in her lap and kept her gaze on Claire. "But, at the time, it seemed to be the only way to save your life."

Claire couldn't help, but laugh at what Juliet just said. "So let me get this straight" She hadn't been this mad since the Charlie-Baby-Napping-Fiasco.
"You injected me with something at night while I was sleeping. You kidnapped me and Charlie because Ethan lied about being on our plane. You hung Charlie from a tree, just for the heck of it, and you were just going to let me go home once I had Aaron?"
She was becoming growingly loud and sarcastic. "My problem is why'd the young girl who let me go, tell me you were going to kill me? Why did you drug me in the first place? And why in the hell didn't you just come to out camp, and expain some things, before going and kidnapping people. My God, what's so hard about telling the truth!

This wasn't exactly going the way that Juliet had expected it to. She hadn't seen Claire's reaction coming, although she understood why she was acting this way.
"Ethan injected you on our orders because it would keep you alive. He kidnapped you so that we could safely continue administering the injections. And after a few months of observation and recovery, yes, we would have let you go," she explained, keeping a calm tone even though Claire was starting to get frustrated and loud.
At the mention of a young girl, Juliet's brows knitted together in thought. "A girl?" she repeated. There was only one young girl in their community. But why would Alex have let Claire go? "She probably misunderstood what we were doing and thought we were going to kill you. But I swear to you, Claire, that was not our intention."
When she questioned why they hadn't just come out and explained everything to start off with, Juliet hesitated. "I tried to get them to come out and ask permission, to explain things. But they said it was better if we did it that way." Before Claire could object again, Juliet held up a hand. "I agree with you in the sense that it was wrong, but I couldn't do anything to sway that decision."
Juliet started to think that maybe she wouldn't get Claire's trust. Maybe she should've given her more time to recover before coming over and speaking with her. But it was too late now.

Claire was about to say something else before Juliet stopped her. Everything she was saying did make sense, didn't it? She couldn't have just made up that entire story on the spot.
Claire was beginning to feel foolish for being so loud when Juliet was behaving so calmly. After a few moments to calm down, Claire looked back into Juliet's eyes. "I don't understand why Jack trusts you, and I don't know what you did to him out there. I suppose you could have treated him like a king for all I know, but I do know what you did to me, and I really just want to know why I should trust you"

Juliet started to feel better once it seemed that Claire was calming down. The last thing she needed at the moment was someone getting angry at her after she'd just gained a little trust in the camp.
"You, of all these people, Claire, have every right to hate me. I created a serum to save your life and by doing so ended up putting your life in danger. I'm not asking for your trust," said Juliet, looking up at Claire. "I just wanted you to know that I am truly sorry for everything that has been done to you, mostly on my account. You didn't deserve to be put through any of that, and I'm sorry."
In all reality, Juliet was hoping to gain Claire's trust. She needed all the trust she could get. And she only had a week in which to do so. One week until the Others would unleash their plan. And when that happened, Juliet had a feeling that all hell was going to break loose.

Claire nodded her head slowly. There was no point in staying angry at Juliet. From the look of things, She was a member of their group now. Claire had to get use to her sooner or later. Maybe she wasn't like the other's anyway. They did leave her afterall.
"So" Claire said smiling shyly. "When did you see Aaron?"

Juliet relaxed inside at the change of subject, knowing that the previous conversation was done with. Things seemed to have worked out, although it didn't end up going as smoothly as she would have liked it to.
As Claire's question, she smiled a little bit. "Oh, I just saw him in passing earlier today. Didn't get too close or anything," she reassured the young mother. After the conversation they had just had, she wasn't sure that Claire would have wanted her around her baby right off the bat.
"Everything has been going well with him? He hasn't gotten sick or anything?" She didn't mean to sound nosy or anything about the baby, but Juliet was still amazed that the baby was even alive. It would be even more of a blessing to know that he was healthy, along with his mother.

"Let me guess. Charlie had him, right?" She said with a small laugh. "If you didn't know better, you would think he was his real son. Sometimes I even forget"
"Aaron's fine. Although he did get pretty sick about a month ago. I thought..." She rolled her eyes slightly. "I thought whatever it was you had been injecting me with had something to do with it. I went on a total rampage. Forced Kate to come with me, and we actually found the medical station you had kept me in. Of course it was cleared out by that time, and it turned out to be nothing really anyway. Aaron got better just like Jack said he would"

"Let me guess. Charlie had him, right?"
At that comment, Juliet smiled. "Yes, Charlie was walking him around the beach so you could get some rest. It was sweet to watch, really." Juliet loved how careful Charlie was with the baby. Especially with the past that he had, she never expected him to be so gentle and nurturing. But he had surprised her and he seemed very affectionate toward Claire and Aaron.
Juliet kept quiet at Claire's next comment about Charlie seeming like Aaron's real father. She knew well enough that Charlie wasn't the father. She also knew that Thomas was having a good life without Claire and the baby. Of course, she wasn't going to say anything about the subject. It wasn't exactly a topic for light conversation.
She listened carefully as Claire recounted Aaron's sickness. His symptoms didn't seem familiar to her, which was actually a good thing. Juliet gave a small nod. "Well I'm glad that he got better. It would have been devastating if something had happened," she said. Juliet didn't want anything bad to happen to Claire or Aaron; they were successful cases of having a pregnancy on the island. In her three years of being on this island, theirs was the first positive case she'd seen. Maybe there was still hope for others...
Getting her mind off of her work, Juliet looked over at Claire and gave her a small smile. "Well, I don't want to take away any more time that could be spent resting," she said, slowly getting up to her feet and brushing some sand off her pants.

Claire nodded softly. "Yeah. That's what everyone keeps telling me." She said with a small chuckle. "But I don't think I could go to sleep if I wanted to. I've never been a heavy sleeper, and sleeping on the ground doesn't help much"
She smiled softly to herself. "So did you have beds and running water and things like that at your camp? I would give anything for a warm bath."

Juliet gave Claire a small smile at her question. She didn't see any harm in telling the truth about this. After all, Jack had been with them and he would surely tell the other survivors of all the luxuries they had at their little village. "Showers, beds, ovens, microwaves, televisions... It's a lot like being back in the real world," she commented.
Except for the part where you aren't free to leave, she thought bitterly to herself. That was the one thing she truly hated about this place. Juliet had come here thinking that she would only stay for six months. Three years later, she was still here and was more homesick than ever.
"The houses are kind of small, though," she added. "Not enough room for everyone here." She knew that once these people learned that there was a place on this island with an almost-home feeling, they would probably go storming off to find it. And while her statement wasn't exactly true, she just had to try and discourage people from trying to go there. Her people would be back there eventually and they didn't need a whole bunch of plane crash survivors parading up and demanding access to their homes.

Claire didn't even notice that she had zoned out into her own dreamworld as Juliet went on. She could care less about TV's, and microwaves. After living in a tent for months she had almost forgot about such conveniences. What she hadn't forgotten about was a soft bed, and a warm shower, and to know that both of these were only a couple of miles from the tent she had been sleeping in made her want to scream.
She snapped out of it, and gave a small laugh. "I doubt they could be as small as our humble homes" She said looking around her tent, which was barely big enough for her and Charlie to sleep in.

Juliet grinned at Claire's comment. "True," she admitted. The tents were smaller than the houses in the valley. "But here you have ocean-front property. Nice sunsets every night. We don't get that sort of view," she commented, trying to get Claire to see the bright side of their situation. If you didn't count the plane crash, the people dead or dying, the lack of any normal luxuries... the view was nice.
