As the trio walked through the jungle, Charlie was just thinking. A lot. He was in his own little world, almost ignoring the one they were walking through right at the moment.
That ok with you Charlie?
"What?" Charlie snapped back to reality. "Oh, yeah, that sounds brilliant."

"Aye..." Desmond said in barely more than a whisper. He turned about and looked around for a familiar sight, anything that he could recognize from his vision. Trees, bushes, where Charlie tripped over, a stream...anything. Anything would do. Just to help keep him one step ahead. He had to keep his wits about him too, and he was looking behind and beside him so often that he found himself stumbling over things in his way. He ran a hand through his hair and even after a few minutes of walking he was beginning to feel the heat.
Then that clicking, whirring, humming sort of sound reached his ears, and he spun around, straining his eyes to look for whatever it was, that smog, that smoke. The noise died away, and he shrugged at the other two, and walked on. He hoped they had only remotely noticed it. He knew Jack had encountered it before, and might have remembered the noise. As far as Desmond knew, it was just a bird.

Jack heard the sound and spun around, there was nothing there. Strange. Jack thought it was the sound he had heard many times before, the sound that brought along the smoke monster. It couldn't have been, normally after that it appears. No. Jack was being paranoid. So he kept on walking and tried to act as if nothing was wrong. He didn't want to ruin the whole camping trip, and that could have been a mood killer.
"Anyone got any marshmallows we can put over a fire?" Jack said jokingly. He thought he better lighten the mood. The last thing they wanted was everyone walking in silence and thinking about what might jump out of the jungle and eat them. Maybe Charlie or Desmond had managed to get some, Jack hadn't seen any but he hadn't really looked. The one thing Jack did remember to bring was matches. They didn't want to get out there and not be able to light a fire, what else could they gather around and tell stories?

The strange, whirring and humming sound hit Charlie's ears and he instantly became hesitant. "Wasn't it that thing that ate the pilot?" he thought. He pushed the thought out of his mind though; he was here to have fun, not bother about being eaten by some stupid monster.
Anyone got any marshmallows we can put over a fire?
Charlie let out a slight laugh at Jack's question and joked, "I knew I was forgetting something."

"Let's head over here" Jack said, pointing to the left. There was no reason behind his change in direction, he just thought that traveling in a straight line all the time would get boring. They were out here to explore and have a good time, so Jack tried to make it a little more interesting.
"Looks like the sun wont be up much longer" Jack said, noticing that it was going down at a quick speed. That was another strange thing about this place, the sun seem to set and rise very quickly, much quicker than back home. Not that it made that much difference, it would just mean they should start to set up camp sooner so that they didn't get caught in the dark and not have anywhere to shelter. The good news was, it didn't look like rain. This island had a habit of ruining a good day by pissing it down with rain.

"Aye, y'have one helluva point there," Desmond replied, staring up at the sky. It was a much darker shade of blue, and along the horizon, orange and purple hues could be seen dancing across it, the sun being now an orb that was almost dull enough to look at. Desmond knew Jack to have made mistakes with being the boss of thirty-odd people, but when it came to being a leader to a minority, he could handle it. It seemed that his vision, however little of it he managed to catch, would occur after tonight if he was lucky. He'd much rather have at least one night just larking about and talking rather than desperately trying to strain his memory for clues and hints as to what events may present themselves later.

[[OOC: I was giving Charlie a chance to reply ... but I will continue]]
After walking around for almost two hours Jack thought now would be a good time to set up camp. He stopped, looked at the two of them and said "Let's make camp then" Soon it would be getting dark, and they needed a fire and maybe even a tent to stay warm. Although they may not have enough time to make a tent so they would just have to sleep under the stars.
He dropped his bag, and looked at Charlie "Shall we fetch some fire wood?" Jack didn't want to waste anytime, if they wanted to eat then they would have to get a fire going before it got too dark to see ... and Jack was getting hungry.

((OOC: Sorry for my absence; I've simply had too much to do. Now I don't. ) Shall we fetch some fire wood?"We shall," Charlie agreed, dropping his bag as well. Charlie looked up into the sky to see that Jack was right, the sun was to be setting soon. If they wanted to sleep comfortably through the night, they needed to hurry and get everything around.

[[Don't worry about it, I think every is really busy *sigh* ... including me *double sigh*]]
Jack followed Charlie into the woods. Along the way he saw a few branches on the floor which he thought would be good for starting the fire. He picked them up and carried them under his arm. It was good to spend sometime with Charlie, he rarely got to talk to him. Desmond was another person he never got to talk to either, but then again they would have plenty of time to chat tonight.
"Have you noticed anything strange about Desmond?" Jack asked Charlie. He thought Desmond had been acting weird these past few days, almost ... not himself. Jack didn't know why, or what had happened to him. Maybe it was nothing. Maybe Jack had been away from camp so long that he had forgotten how Desmond normally acted.

Have you noticed anything strange about Desmond?
"I don't think so," Charlie answered, picking up a branch that would make some very good firewood. "And I thought he was strange already, you know, with the hatch and stuff."
